Charles Matthew Haymon Jr., 66, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 10:00AM at Parkhill Cemetery.
Born in Cullman, Alabama, to the late Charles M. Haymon Sr. and Opal Lucille Woodard Haymon. Matthew loved the outdoors, music and playing his guitar! He was a loving son, grandson and brother. Matthew was loved by all that knew him. He never met a stranger, and would always do what he could to help others. Matthew has left a big hole in this world that could only be filled by him. He always did things his way and in his time, but Gods hand has always been upon him.
Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Survivors include, his dear brother, Rex Haymon (Maria) that was there for him day or night, made sure he had food, clothes, shoes and most of all love and prayers; that’s what he needed and wanted so much; his loving sister, Jeanene Haymon Spivey (Randy) that was always there for him when he let them, but he was always covered in so much love and prayers; nieces and nephew, Nicole (Landon) Ledford and family, Joe (Tammy) Powell and family, Mirenda Haymon, Mirissa (Alexander) Bryan and a host of friends and family that loved him and thought so much of him.
A special thank you to the Director of the Stewart Home, Kara Vinzant and the loving, caring staff that took such good care of Matthew for so long.
A special thank you to his special dear friend, Mrs. Jean Rogers that opened her home to him and treated him like a son. Many thanks to you Mrs. Jean for being the mom figure that he so needed. You were a priceless treasure to him.
