Funeral services will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, with Dr. Hal Brady and Reverend Robert Beckum officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 in the evening in the Wynnton room at Striffler-Hamby.
Cecil Eugene Harden was born on December 7, 1928 in Benton, Illinois to the late Delores A. Harden and Marvin C. Harden. He retired from the U. S. Army as Master Sergeant (MSG) and later the Department of Defense Civil Service with over 43 years combined service. Mr. Harden was Chief of Operations for the Information Technology office at Martin Army Hospital prior to retirement in 1991. He was a Thirty Second degree (32nd) Mason since 1958, and a member of the Fellowship Class at St. Luke United Methodist Church of Columbus. He enjoyed watching baseball, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Robynel M. Harden; daughter, Kathryne J. Delffs (Johnny) of Columbus, GA; son, Cecil Eugene “Gene” Harden II (Kymberli) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren: Laura Leigh Evans (Brian) of Watkinsville, GA, John Matthew Delffs of Columbus, GA, Daniel Nathan Eugene Harden of Tampa, FL, Sydni Joyce Harden of Columbus, GA, Luke Jacob Harden of Columbus, GA; great-grandson, John Bryce Evans; nieces, Janet Miller Hayes (Hank) of Albany, GA, Josie Jent of Valparaiso, IN, Jacqueline Bough (Brian) of Concord, NC, Barbara Rubalcava of Portage, IN; nephews, Col. Joseph Harden (Tina) of Hamilton, GA, Ron Harden of St. Mary’s, FL, Ralph Harden(Peggy) of Palm Harbor, FL, Jack Jent (Judge Julia) of Merriville, IN, Bob Harden (Shirley) of Benton, IL.
