Cathy Evans “MeMe”, age 64, of Columbus, passed away on May 6, 2018. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, with Pastor Bill Mayhew officiating. Visitations will be held at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Wednesday evening, May 9, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and 10:00 am until 10:50 am prior to the services on Thursday.
Cathy was born in Dadeville, Alabama on March 4, 1954, the daughter of Ozy Greer Cosby and Mabel Pless Cosby. She is a member of the 1972 graduating class of Jordan High School. She married Bill Evans on June 2, 1972 in Phenix City, AL, together they had two children. They were members for over 20 years at Victory Baptist Church, in Columbus. Through the years she worked at Dr. Blake Lane’s office and for Anthem BC/BS. Cathy often thought of others and their needs before herself. She found joy in serving others, whether it was a cake to celebrate a birthday, a visit with a friend, or just a friendly smile. Her family meant everything to her and she loved them dearly. Especially the love she had for her grandchildren, it was priceless, and she loved being their MeMe!
Cathy was preceded in death by her Father, Ozy and a brother Jeff Cosby. Survivors include Her husband, Bill; a daughter Wendy (Lloyd) Sirmons; one son, Tommy (Kerry Bodnar) Evans; five grandchildren, Grace Sirmons, Cortland Sirmons, Journie Zagroski; Kynsley Evans, Raelyn Evans; her Mother Mabel and her siblings, James, Carol, Donnie, Pam, Faye, Barry, and Kim. Cathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends that will miss her dearly.
