Funeral services will 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021 in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.
Carol is the daughter of Charles and Margaret Kerchner, born December 7, 1924 in Rolla, Missouri. Carol is the wife of Ben Hill Jackson, Sr. and the mother of Ben Hill Jr, Dr. Kenneth Charles Jackson, and Michael Walker Jackson.
Carol grew up in Greensboro North Carolina, and attended Greensboro High School and Queens College where she received a BA Degree in Art. She taught art at Central High School in Charlotte, NC. She married Ben Sr. on October 16, 1948 and lived in Greenville, South Carolina where her children were born Ben and Ken September 26, 1949, and Mike, April 14, 1955. Her family moved to Columbus, Georgia which was her residence from 1959 until 2011.
While living in Columbus, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus, and was also active in the Columbus DAR Society, and Columbus Ivey League Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Heather, and her husband Ben. She is survived by her sons Ben Jr (Debbie) living in Kennesaw, Ga; Kenneth Charles (Lane) living in Oklahoma City; and Michael Walker (Julia) living in Ringgold, Ga; grandchildren Brandon Jackson(Helen), Rachel and Jamie Jackson, and Phillip Jackson (Denae); great-grand-children Ray, Casey, Lydia, and Anna.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great grandmother, and close friend to many.
