Midland, GA- SFC (Ret) Carlos Santiago 63 of Midland, GA passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014.
Graveside service will be Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 3:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the St. Elmo room at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus.
SFC Carlos Santiago was born in Germany on May 11, 1950. He is preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Santiago and a sister, Iris Roach. Carlos served in the US Army honorably for 20 plus years, receiving numerous medals and awards. He and his family settled in Columbus and after his retirement from the US Army he worked at Pratt Whitney as a maintenance technician for a short period of time before retiring to Midland. Carlos was a simple man who will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Silvana A. Santiago; daughter, Lorena N.(Jackie) Phillips of Cusseta, GA; sons, Carlos Lorenzo Santiago, Jr. of Midland, GA and Jeffrey Ludolf Santiago of Midland, GA; sisters, Irmgard (Hermann) Rossel of Germany and Elsie (Jim) Cooper and her son Charles Cottingham of MO; grandchildren, Iris Santiago and Austin Santiago; niece, Daniella Rossel of Germany; nephew, Timo Rossel of Germany; mother-in-law, Alma Held of Germany; brother-in-law, Wolfgang (Helene) Held their son Stefan Held of Germany; and extended family and friends.
