Marvin started his career in the Military in September of 1964 until February of 1987 where he served in the Vietnam War two times. After retiring from the Army, Marvin became a Bishop in his church where he worked twenty plus years in Ministry. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow, listening to jazz music, reading the Bible, and doing for others. Marvin always believed in God and followed his Commandments.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Homer Jones and Daisy Reese.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife; Dorothy Jones, three children; Stephanie Sharlene Goss, Jacqualine Joyce Dunn, and Marvin Jones Jr., grandchildren; Valeah Aiyanna Jones, Jaden Andre Stevens, Jakove Marvin Jones, Alexander Andrew Dunn, and a sibling; Ozie Shephard.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Morning Glory Ministry in Phenix City, Alabama with Pastor Robert Battles officiating. A visitation will be held for friends and family on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, 31907. A burial will take place at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with full Military Honors on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
