SFC (Ret.) Billy Miller, age 92, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024. He was born on October 16, 1932 in Grady County, Georgia to the late Effie McManeus Miller and Berry Miller. Mr. Billy was married to the love of his life, Lonelle Lewis Miller. He answered his calling to his patriotic duty and faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Serving for over 20 years, he was stationed around the globe with his growing family in tow, to include serving two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army at Fort Benning, Georgia, he called the Columbus area home. Mr. Billy continued his patriotic service with Civil Service at Fort Benning. Mr. Billy was Christian by faith and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He would serve as a deacon and enjoyed attending Sunday School Class. Mr. Billy was very patriotic, he enjoyed camping and fishing, spending time with his family and just being in the great outdoors. Mr. Billy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved him.
Billy is preceded in death by: his parents, and his siblings, Mack Miller, Horace Miller, Daisy Collins, and Mary Pyles.
He leaves his legacy to be cherished by his wife, Lonelle Miller, his three daughters, Sharon (Keith) Steger, Phyllis, (Paul) Lowe, Terry (William) Blair; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Edgewood Baptist Church, 3564 Forrest Rd., Columbus, Georgia 31907, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM with Pastor Jonathan Merritt officiating. Mr. Billy will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.
