Betty Jean McIntyre, 75, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on June 29, 2024. She was born in Stapleton, Alabama to the late Mildred Lee Stapleton Mathis and William Henry Mathis. Betty was married to the late Robert McIntyre and worked for many years as a clerk at Fort Benning. Some of her passions were collecting dolls and needlepoint. Betty loved spending time with family and friends, especially going shopping with her friend, Judy, and conversations regarding stories of the good ole days. Betty was a long time members of South Side Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and William Mathis; her husband, Sergeant Major Robert McIntyre; and her brother, William Mathis.
Betty is survived by her brother, John Robert Mathis, numerous other family members, and good friends.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia 31907 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Betty’s Life will follow with Reverend David Lix officiating. A Private Burial will be held in Parkhill Cemetery at 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
