Our dear Mother, Betty (King) Leachman passed away peacefully on Sunday March 5, 2017. Betty was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1931 in Phenix City, Alabama, to W.L. King and Lillie Davis King. A funeral Service will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia, with interment following at Parkhill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening March 7, 2017, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Bet was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Columbus. She was employed by the Columbus Consolidated Government and worked in the finance department for over 25 years. Bet enjoyed working in her yard around her beautiful flowers and beach trips with family and friends. Her hobbies included line dancing, watching football and hockey, caring for her plants, and collecting Christmas village pieces.
A special thanks to the Grace Ladies, Amy Forbes, Wanda Morgan, Sarah Barlow, Columbus Hospice, and the many friends and family who made the last year such a joyous time of Bet’s life.
Preceding her in death were her parents, W. L. King and Lillie Davis King; a brother, LTC John Robert King; a sister Lillian K. McLeod; and a brother, Jack J. King. Survivors include a son, Bobby Leachman, of Locust Grove Oklahoma; a daughter, Betsy Leachman Paulk, of Lexington, South Carolina; two sisters, Margaret K. Jenkins and Ruby K. Mixon, both of Columbus; a brother, Fred B. King (Carolyn) of Novato, California; and a sister-in-law, Ruth King. Five Grandchildren, Laura Paulk, Leigh Anne Stringer, John Dewey Paulk, Jason Paulk, Shelly Waters, 12 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
