Betty Weathers Harvey, age 90, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022. A visitation for family and friends of Betty will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Following the a visitation a graveside celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Betty was born on June 4, 1931 in Savannah, Georgia; the daughter of W. L. Weathers and Mamey Clair Bazemore Weathers. She attended Atlanta Christian College where she traveled with a girl’s trio to represent the college. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education at Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. Betty married the love of her life, Charles Harvey. Betty was a welfare worker for Habersham County, GA; and elementary teacher in Jefferson, GA, and Cornelia, GA; and a speed reading instructor for the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning. She was also a homemaker. Mrs. Harvey had lived in Columbus since 1967 and was a member of Central Christian Church. She was strong in her faith, she was loving, compassionate, and a lady that served and gave of herself and her talents wherever she was able. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and friend to many.
Betty is preceded in death by: her husband, Wm. Charles Harvey; and a son, Tim Harvey.
Survivors included: two sons, Mark S. Harvey, Phillip B. Harvey; a sister, Cheryl W. Smart; a grandson, Brent Luke McCartney; two great granddaughters; and her nieces and nephews.
