Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Craig Hutto officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.
Betty was born in Woodbury, GA. on March 3, 1934 to the late Willis Granger and Elvie Cooley Granger. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Betty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling, cruising and one-arm bandits. Betty loved going to the beach or sitting on her back porch watching the birds and occasionally sipping a nice frozen margarita. You could often find Betty watching a good crime show like NCIS, Mark Harman was her “man” or just quit time working on her crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Harrell, Sr., siblings, Willis Granger, Georgia Mae Schroder, Gloria Sullivan and Wade Burns and a grandson-in-law, Carey McKenzie.
She is survived by her children, Jennie Vee Abernathy of Anderson, SC, Jessie Yarbrough Barnes (Jerry) of Valdosta, GA, Sherrill Susan Weatherly (Mike) of Phenix City, AL, Janice Ruth Doane (Leslie) of Columbus, GA, Mary “Stella” Frost of Columbus, GA, James A. Harrell, Jr. (Krista) of Moultrie, GA, and a brother-in-law, Sully Sullivan of Columbus, GA. 10 grandchildren: Joe Pacheco, Allan Pacheco, Alena Pacheco, Kristy Stier (Christian), Kelly Michele McKenzie, Paul Michael Weatherly (Lauren), Rodney Dale Blanchard, II, Jaclyn Nicole Frost, Sarah Harrell Thomason (Blake), and Caroline Grace Harrell; 14 great grandchildren which include Caylon Blanchard of Albuquerque, NM whom she raised as a daughter and 2 great great grandchildren.
