Betty Grace Brown, 81, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at her residence under the watchful care of Gentiva Hospice. Betty was born in Washington County, Georgia on November 13, 1933 to her late parents Jesse and Georgia Brown. She was a graduate of Baker High School and had a career in Insurance with American General Insurance Company for 45 years. She was an active member and past secretary of Second Baptist Church, sang with The Merry Makers, a member of WMU, and had a strong passion for her family, helping others and visiting her church family. Mrs. Betty Grace Brown was always a Lady, and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 26, 2015 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm one hour prior to A Celebration of Betty’s Life that will be held Monday, January 26, 2015, 1:00 pm in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. Reverend Hank Reeves will officiate.
Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by the love of her life; husband James E. Brown; two brothers, Donald Brown and Cayton Brown; one sister and brother in-law, Dorothy and Robert Morgan; in-laws Rosalee and Carlton Partain, and Louise Miles. She is survived by two sister in- laws; Cynthia Brown of Americus, GA, and Carole Brown of Americus, GA; one brother in-law Hoge Miles of Thomaston, GA; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, with special thanks to caregivers Sharon and Jeff Elliott.
