
Betsy Riddle Hinton, 62, of Columbus, passed away July, 26 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Interment will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 at 9:30am in Parkhill Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5:00-7:00pm at Striffler-Hamby Columbus.
Betsy was born March 3, 1954 in Columbus, daughter of Ralph and Anne Prather Riddle and had been a life-long resident of Columbus. She was a graduate of Hardaway High School in 1972, received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Columbus College in 1974 and took pride in her work as an RN at St. Francis Hospital for 35 years, a job she loved. Betsy was a third generation and lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Columbus Georgia. She cherished her church family and was known for her words of encouragement to those she loved.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Anne Prather Riddle and sister, Nancy Ellis. She is survived by her husband of 41 years Tommy Hinton; son, Carson Hinton his wife Kristin and their two children, Emma and John Thomas; daughter, Corey Kate Lambert and her husband Justin and their daughter, Carolyon; niece, Stacy Ellis Smith; nephew, Steven Mark Ellis; one great nephew and five great nieces.
