Funeral services will be Saturday, September 1, 2012, 11:00 AM, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend John Forrester officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Bertha Duncan was born April 24, 1917 in Columbus, the daughter of the late James Franklin Baugh and Bertie Pearson Baugh. She accepted the Lord as her savior at an early age and was active throughout her life at Beallwood Baptist Church, Upatoi Baptist Church, and was a current member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. She graduated from Industrial High School in 1934 and worked and retired from Swift Textiles where she was employed in the Production and Planning Department.
She was preceded in death her husband, William Herbert Duncan, and her sisters, Borneal Hubbard, Edna Earle Richardson, Frances Elender Nelson, and Ila Mae Waddell.
Survivors include her son, Larry Duncan (Brenda) and grandchildren, Lynn Kelly (Tim) and Jason Duncan (Sarah), three great grandsons, Russell Kelly, Jackson Kelly and Andrew Kelly, several nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Special thanks is rendered to the staff of Muscogee Manor West Wing and Dr. P. Patel for their care in helping to keep her ever present smile on her face.
