Barbara Ann Jackson, age 79, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. A visitation of family and friends will be at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 11:30 until 12:30 pm; a graveside celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 1:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.
Barbara was born November 24, 1941, in Houston County, Alabama; the daughter of Euell Chester Watford and Odell Courtney Watford. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Jordan Vocational High School and attended Columbus College. Barbara married the love of her life Gerald D. Jackson in California in December 1961. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family and God whom she honored throughout her days. Which are two of the important things she taught her family. Her children fondly remember their mother’s support as she told them repeatedly that they were capable of anything. She loved listening to Gerald when he would play the piano and organ. She enjoyed going out to eat, she was a strong proponent of eating desert first, especially Cheese Cake and eating at Mazzio's Pizza. Barbara was a Legal Secretary for the Hatcher Firm, Denny, Craig & Peas Law Firm, Page, Scranton & Harris Law Firm, Richard Marchetti. EEO Coordinator for Blue Cross of Columbus. Taught at Hallie Turner Private School and Columbus Tech. She and Gerald were members of Evangel Temple for many years. Gerald was disabled for 23 years, her family always marveled Her Stamina and determination for taking care of her husband.
Barbara is preceded in Death by: her Husband, Gerald D. Jackson; Father, Euell Watford, Mother, Odell Courtney Watford; Sisters, Peggy June Horne, and Mary Joyce Shaw.
Survivors include: her 2 Sons, Brad Jackson and wife Alicia of Gainesville, GA; Brett Jackson and wife Shannon of Dothan, AL; 3 Grandchildren, Christopher Jackson of Dothan, AL, Sawyer Jackson, Birmingham, AL and Sarah Ann Jackson of Smith Station, AL and many nephews and nieces.
