Mrs. Barbara Francine Adamson Harris, age 45, passed away on December 2, 2010 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 10, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to PAWS Humane, P.O. Box 8964, Columbus, Georgia 31908.
Mrs. Harris was born on July 29, 1965 in Columbus, GA. She attended Kendrick High School up until joining the United States Coast Guard, where she served in Kodiak, AK, Portland, OR, Governor’s Island, NY and finally Chesapeake, VA. During basic training she was selected for Honor Guard and also served during Operation Desert Storm. Barbara retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1998 at the rank of Yeoman First Class. She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Winner and a sister, Cindy Irene Vogel.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Brent Harris of Columbus; three loving sons, Joshua W. Adamson of Pine Mountain, Steven A. Adamson of Columbus and James L. Adamson of Cumming, GA; her mother, Irmtraud Winner of Florida; three brothers, Steven Snell of Panama City, Fl, James Winner, Jr. of Tennessee and John Winner of Pine Mountain; two sisters, Heidi Roberson of Kodiak, AK and Jessie Cutchins of Southport, FL; a grandmother, Elfriede Drechsler of Germany; two aunts, Christa Thomas of France and Heidi Spranger of Germany; two nephews, Steven A. Gilbert of Florida and Sean Roberson; a niece Truby Roberson; and her former husband Louis Adamson.
