Arthur L. McGee

Arthur L. McGee, age 86, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. A graveside service for Arthur will be held Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Park, 4500 Saint Mary's Rd., Columbus, GA.

Arthur was born December 2, 1934 in Columbus, Georgia; the son of Leon Benjamin McGee and Louie H. Smith McGee. Arthur was raised in Columbus and graduated from Baker High School. After graduation Arthur joined the U.S. Navy, he proudly served his country and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 24 years of service. After his retirement, he returned to Columbus where he made his home, he was a member of First Baptist Church, the Shriners, the Masons, the V.F.W and American Legion. Arthur loved to travel and be adventurous, of all the places he visited, his favorite destination was Hawaii. He enjoyed learning about the different parts of the world, the people, and their traditions. He enjoyed being with friends, sharing funny stories, and reminiscing about the past. He was a man of God and devoted to his family. He was a kind and caring person, a man who loved to give.

Arthur is preceded in death by: his parents, Leon and Louie McGee; a sister, Ouida Downs, and an Uncle, James Smith.

Survivors include: a sister, Jeanette Young, a brother, Truett McGee; and many nieces and nephews.
