Family will visit with friends on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. A procession will follow into Parkhill Cemetery for a graveside celebration of Annette’s life at 2:00 PM. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, Striffler-Hamby Mortuary will be following the guidelines set forth by the CDC and Governor Brian Kemp to maintain social distancing for those attending the service. Masks may be worn at the service.
Annette was born on August 12, 1942 in Americus, Georgia to the late Ruth Mae Teel Anthony and Paul Durwood Anthony, Sr. She was a 1960 graduate of Marion County High School in Buena Vista, Georgia. Annette was Christian by faith and loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed going to church, she last attended Fairview Baptist of Columbus before her health declined. Annette was a people person; she found joy in volunteering for many years at St. Francis Hospital. Annette worked in a variety of grocery stores, Winn Dixie, Publix, and her last place of employment was a greeter at Wal-Mart. She never met a stranger. She always had a smile, and her laugh was contagious. Annette was an awesome grandmother to her four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She loved life and mostly her family, Annette will be greatly missed. Other than her parents, Ruth and Paul Anthony, Annette was preceded in death by her siblings: Timothy Anthony, Edith Helms, Durwood Anthony, and Martha Horton.
She is survived by her two daughters: Allison Eaton of Columbus, GA and Kathy Coker of Pine Mountain, GA; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters: Linda Miller and Laverne Powell; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
