She was born to Laura K. and Hamilton Downing on October 9, 1935. She had one brother, Hamilton F. Downing Jr. She met her future husband, Philip Lee Brewer, when they were students at Columbus High School. She leaves three daughters and sons-in-law: Laurie B. and Clyde Hurst, Amy B. and Tom Wiley, and Jeanne B. and Andy Hall. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Max Hurst and Casey Hall.
Anne was active for most of her life enjoying dance, tennis, and waterskiing. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She loved animals, caring for many dogs, cats, and even a pigeon. She spent many peaceful hours with one of her cats in her lap.
Our family extends a heart-felt thank you with our deepest gratitude to Thressa Slaughter, Rhonda Stathums, Laurie Formaggioni, Peggy Paleafei and Paula (Sassy) Cullen and the many other caregivers our mother had over the past 8 years. She was tough at times but the good times with her would shine through and strengthen the bond between her and her caregivers.
A graveside service will be held for Anne at 2 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022 in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. GA.
