Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA with Dr. Brad Hicks and Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Angela was born in Columbus, GA. on February 27, 1947 to the late Andrew Lucius Allen and Martha Frances Pearce. She has lived in Columbus all of her life and was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church. Angela was employed by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from 1977 till 2005. During her career she was a member of the American Academy of Bereavement, the Network for Professional Executive Women, she was a Certified Trainer for Escape School. Angela also served as the Aftercare Coordinator for Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, and volunteered at Columbus Hospice. She was very instrumental in the success of the implementation and presentation of the Dignity Memorial Traveling Vietnam Wall to Sacrifice Field at Ft. Benning, GA.
Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years Lawton V. Garnto of Waverly Hall, GA. her five children, Lisa Miller O’Neal of Lagrange, GA. Diane Miller DeBardelaben Copley and husband Scott of Midland, GA. William Bryan Miller of Columbus, GA, Michelle Howard of Columbus, and Michael Garnto of Columbus, eight grandchildren, Garrett DeBardelaben, Kate Miller, Hallie DeBardelaben, Curt Miller, Drew O’Neal and Miller O’Neal, Taylor Baird and Lindsey Howard, a brother, Michael Pearce Allen and wife Robin of Seminole, FL. and a sister, Pam Allen Clemmons and husband Warren of Birmingham, AL.
