Andrea Freida (Kiesewetter) Young, age 83, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away at her home on Sunday August 4, 2019. A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Graveside celebration of Andrea's life will occur Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM in The Chapel of The Pines Mausoleum of Parkhill Cemetery, 4261 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.
Andrea was born July 15, 1936 in Eilenberg, Saxony, Germany to her late parents Martha Kiesewetter Durner and Andreas Durner. Andrea was a survivor; she grew up in a very difficult time. WWII in Germany was a time of hunger, terror and danger, yet Andrea grew to be a beautiful young woman. She met and married the love of her life, American Thomas O. Young.
The couple soon moved to the US and started their family. Andrea took pride in keeping a clean house. She loved her family, shopping and traveling. She taught her children to be understanding, patient and how to save money. Andrea always enjoyed having a dog and being entertained by them. She will always be remembered as a survivor, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Andrea was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Young; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by; son James Ollie Young; daughter Dolores Young Bean; son-in-law Greg Bean; grandson Thomas Bean and great granddaughter Jacelyn Bean; other family members and many friends.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Mrs. Young's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
