Alfred Owens, age 72, a resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at River Towne Care. Mr. Owens, Services will be held Thursday August 9, 2018 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Columbus, Georgia at 11:00am with visitation starting at one hour prior a burial to follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Mr. Owens was born to the late Alfred Lewis Owens and Margie May Owens, was born July 1, 1946 in Durant, Oklahoma. Mr. Owens was a veteran serving in the navy, army and army reserves for twenty two years until his retirement, he is considered a blue water veteran, he served his country in the Vietnam War. Mr. Owens worked for a baker for his wife’s family doing all aspects of the baking industry. Once he was out of the service he began studying in the church mainly in religious studies. Although his kept to himself most of the time anytime the church was open he was there.
Mr. Owens is survived by two brother, Larry Owens (Shirley) and Jerry Owens (Jaqueline); one sister, Dorothy Owens; great niece Belinda Parrish four children, Evelyn Owens, Melissa Owens, and Raymond Owens, Deanna Owens; and several other nieces nephews and cousins.
