Albert "Al" Grantham III

Al Grantham, 72, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby followed by a private graveside service.

Al was born in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late A.G. Grantham, Jr., and Helen Grantham. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and Jacksonville State University. He was formerly employed by BF Goodrich and was co-owner of Superior Tire and Auto for over 30 years. Al subsequently affiliated himself with Coldwell Banker Kennon Parker Duncan & Davis as a realtor.

Al is survived by his wife of 47 years, Montea W. Grantham; children, Ginger (William) Ades and Albert “Grant” (Brittany) Grantham; mother, Helen Grantham; brothers, Derrell (Susan) Grantham, and Craig Grantham; grandchildren, Olivia Ades and Elizabeth Ades; sisters-in-law Donna (Norris) Shamp, and Shannon (Don) Munsell, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Al enjoyed watching Alabama football games (“Roll Tide”), and the Atlanta Braves. Al will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for contributions to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
