COLUMBIA - William Albert Pollard, 76, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he was a son of Thomas Brown Pollard and Hilda J. Pollard. He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School. He served as Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve from 1968-1981, with active duty service from 1968-1971.
Al attended the University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor degree in Business and Juris Doctor from the School of Law. In 1974, he became a member of the American Bar Association. His legal career spanned over three decades, many years of which he spent as the managing partner of one of the largest law firms in South Carolina. His area of practice was healthcare, serving the interests of several hospitals in the state of South Carolina.
He was involved with numerous charitable organizations and was particularly proud of his work with the Sisters of Charity and their charitable organization "Healthy Learners".
Surviving are his sons, Barnes Pollard and William Pollard Jr.; three grandchildren: Evelyn, Lucy, and Wells; and sister, Mary Ann Pollack. He was predeceased by his mother, Hilda J. Pollard, and his brothers, Tom Pollard and John Pollard.
A visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, February 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The River Road & Jasmine House, 2208 N Lake Dr, Columbia, SC 29212.
