COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Dr. William Ward Lindler, 70, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The Family invites friends to share in a celebration of his life immediately following the service, and ask that you wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt in his honor.
Dr. Lindler passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Born December 31, 1947 in Columbia, he was a son of the late
Dr. Claude Keller Lindler and Margaret Maxwell Ward Lindler.
Dr. Lindler was a graduate of Dreher High School, the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry, and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He was a doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, opening his own practice in 1977 and delivered over 4,000 babies in the Columbia area.
He lived a life full of purpose, teachable moments, and profound love. He was a student eager to learn, a teacher hungry to teach, a father ready to protect, a husband unwavering in his devotion, a brother you could always count on, and a son that makes you unbelievably proud. His capacity to understand and to love was uncanny and he left behind a tremendous legacy.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Jeannie Schroeder Lindler of Charleston SC; son, Jessen Robinson Lindler of Charleston, S.C., and daughters, Keller Elizabeth Lindler of Washington, D.C. and Margaret "Greta" Gallup Lindler of Denver Colorado; sister, Charlotte Elizabeth Lindler Ellis (Dr. Edgar H. Ellis, Jr.); and brother Claude Keller Lindler, Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Pearl Lindler Pratt.
