William "Toby" Tobin Cassels IV

COLUMBIA William Tobin “Toby” Cassels IV, 21, of Columbia, died at his home, Thursday, May 22, 2014. He is survived by his parents, Pat and Tobin Cassels; sister, Rustin Cassels; grandparents, Charlotte and Bill Cassels, the late Helen and George Hook; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; countless friends; a very special girl, Georgia Theodore, “The One”; and his beloved silver lab, Milly. Toby was majoring in Business at the University of South Carolina having just completed his best semester, earning a 3.6 GPA. He was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church. Toby had a passion for life. He excelled at soccer, tennis, football, and basketball. He especially loved playing basketball. As a player, he earned the awards “Mr. Hustle,” Most Valuable Player, and Defensive Player of the Year for his tenaciousness. Toby was the energy, the leader, the captain, the motivator, and the consummate team player. As a Coach, he imparted all of these attributes to the Middle School team at Hammond School. He loved South Carolina football and recently became a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers. Toby was always the one organizing his friends for swimming, fantasy football, intramural football, NCAA March madness and beach/lake vacations. He especially loved being with his family and friends at his parents’ home. Toby displayed his love for animals when his Milly and her friend, Bullet, had 12 silver lab puppies. He was responsible for their care and carefully selected their new homes. He was very proud of his parenting of these precious babies. Visitation will be held at the Gathering Place at Shandon Baptist Church, Saturday, May 24, 2014, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 25 at 3:00 p.m. at Shandon Baptist Church. Dunbar Funeral Home is assisting the family.
