COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Wilbur Lyman Goodwin, 74, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Greenlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Terry Cagle officiating the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Goodwin died Thursday, February 9, 2017. Born on September 18, 1942, in Enville, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Robert Lyman Goodwin and Annie Opal Massengill Goodwin. Wilbur graduated valedictorian from Chester County High School in Henderson, Tennessee in 1960. He started as a co-op student and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee. During his career he worked at the Savannah River Site and Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Division as a nuclear engineer, retiring after 34 years of service. He was a member of Greenlawn Baptist Church. He loved playing golf and spending time with his golfing buddies and Westinghouse friends. Surviving are his wife, Jane Boulogne Goodwin of Columbia; daughters, Janet Elizabeth “Liz” Meetze (John) of Chapin and Stephanie Ann Dyer (Rachel) of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, John Allen Meetze, Jr. (Kathryn), Matthew Adam Meetze, Melissa Ann Meetze, and Sullivan Lee Dyer; and sister, Beverly Ann Goodwin Hopkins (Stephen) of Leland, North Carolina. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Ann McMillan Goodwin.
