COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Wade Hampton Padgett III, 70, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive guests from 12:15 until 1:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Padgett died Sunday, November 19, 2017. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Col. Wade Hampton Padgett, Jr. and Lucy Harrison McArthur Padgett. He graduated from The Citadel in 1969 and received his Master’s degree from The University of South Carolina. He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and a decorated Vietnam Veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star medal and the Army Commendation medal. He was a Trust Officer with various financial institutions in Columbia and Charlotte. He was also a former Junior and Senior Warden at St. Michael and All Angels’ Episcopal Church. An avid college and professional sports fan, he enjoyed golf and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Surviving are his wife, Virginia W. Padgett of Columbia; sons, Cullen M. Padgett of Columbia and W. Hampton Padgett IV (Christine) of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters, Layla and Airlie Padgett; sisters, Leslie P.
