Violet H. Amick
CHAPIN – Funeral services for Violet H. Amick, 93, will be held on
Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 215 St. Thomas Church Rd., Chapin, SC 29036.
Mrs. Amick passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the wife of the late Vernon Amick and the daughter of the late Earl A. and Irma Mangum Hedgepath. She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
Violet is survived by her brother, Harry D. Hedgepath, and wife Mildred, of Columbia; son, Vernon E. (Gene) Amick and wife, Alicia, of Chapin; grandchildren, Gina, Scott and Wade Amick of Chapin; one great-grandchild, Joanna Amick; three nephews, Jim, Mark and Greg Hedgepath; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. She was a beloved sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, grandmother and aunt to all her family. Her loving, caring ways will be remembered and sorely missed. She was predeceased by an older brother, William Earl Hedgepath and an older sister, Elizabeth “Booth” Hedgepath Margolius.
She retired as Assistant Vice President of the Millwood Branch of Standard Savings and Loan Association. Since her retirement, she was very involved with her husband in activities of the Masonic Order in South Carolina. She was a member of Amaranth, Magnolia Court #5; the White Shrine; Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.
