They say you will not be forgotten if people keep telling stories and saying your name. Tom lived above me and my roommate in Shandon.  
We were afraid of water bugs, and we called Tom every time we needed one killed. He never complained. He just laughed, took care of it and went about his business. I miss you old friend.!!

I was searching for Mr. Fryar on the Internet because none of the phone numbers I had for him was working and ran across this. My stomach dropped. I am so sorry and wished I had known to show my last respect. Mr. Fryar was such a big help to me and my family.

This may sound very strange.  Tom was very heavy in my thoughts this morning when I woke up.   I was thinking of colleagues who have gone on from this world, but he was at the top of the list.   I chuckled at some of the funny, blunt things he used to say in our phone calls trying to figure out some of the law stuff together.  I had no recall that today was the anniversary of his death until I got the email from Dignity Memorial later this morning.  With that, I believe this was not coincidental, and that his sweet spirit is still around.

I am just hearing of Tom’s  passing. I knew him at Wake Forest, met him shortly before we graduated. He was such a nice and decent guy, honestly,  a cut above the average frat boy at Wake. We bonded over both being farm kids at Wake (not a lot of us?). I remember him so fondly and hearing of his passing makes me sad. Damn. Condolences to his family and friends in SC. 

I loved Tom.  He was one of the best people I have ever known.  Honest to a fault, but loyal to the end.  I keep thinking about how funny he was and how much he enjoyed being silly.  It’s just not right that Tom is gone.  I will miss him.

Such a shocker, and so saddened by the loss of my colleague and friend.  Tom was very funny and expressed his opinion about things in a very colorful way.  I liked him for his transparency and frankness.   Strangely enough, he and I would have some rather extended telephone conversations.  The conversations started out about something that happened in court,  how to handle an issue in a bankruptcy case,  or to shoot the breeze and get my opinion on whether he might have been over the top in expressing his opinion about something.  That always ended in laughter  Our offices were across the street from each other in our beginning years of practice,  and he mentored me a bit in my early years of practice.  In some of our conversations, he would easily slip into a chat about his family background.  He was very proud of his family, his upbringing,  his girls [including Becki], the land he grew up on, and his successful siblings.  After he streamlined his practice, I occasionally ran into him at the post office and we would catch up and shoot the breeze a little more --  and reconfirm that we had not yet become wealthy in our practices yet, so we had better go and get to work.  Upon learning that he had departed, it quickly occurred to me that I hadn't seen or heard from him in a while.  The void of me not getting to hear any more of his smart-alecky comments in that slow, engaging "Mathew McConaughey" drawl came to me very fast.  I will miss him dearly.  Big hugs to his family.  I am sure he left you all with some great memories.

Tom was truly a kind and generous soul. He loved helping people and he loved his family. He was a good friend to me and I will miss him terribly. Garet, he was your biggest fan and I am so sorry he left you your family too soon. Praying for all of you. Holly

We were so sorry to hear of Tom's passing at Incarnation.  Of all of my memories of Tom, one of my favorites is that for years, he basically provided breakfast for the whole congregation after worship at our "coffee hour".  Tom would cook all kinds of things and have them ready for everyone when church was over.  It was a ministry he took very seriously,  and we were all the benefactors of that!  

Prayers to you, Garet, Ryan and McCoy.  We know you will miss him.

I worked with Tom over the last 33 years in the Trustee's office and he was always a kind person and an attorney that cared about his clients.  He will be dearly missed and may he rest in peace.

Tom was my brother-in-law and we could argue like cats and dogs, but he was very special to me.  I met him in 1983 when I started dating his brother, Philip.   Out of the five Fryar boys, Philip and Tom were the closest and we all grew up together.  We have seen highs and we have seen lows, but thru them all we always knew we could count on each other for support.  Tom is truly going to be missed and is gone way too soon.  I know I will see him again, because if anything his faith was strong.  Fly high Tom and see you on the other side.
