Terry S Pitts Sr.

WEST COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Terry Stanton Pitts, Sr., 89, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Pitts died Monday, March 14, 2016. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Fred Lee Pitts, Sr. and Ida Stuart Perry Pitts. He served in the U.S Navy during WWII and later retired after working as a U.S. Marshall for 30 years. Mr. Pitts was a Shriner, enjoyed travel and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia. Surviving are his daughters, Rebecca Huggins, Patrice Matthews (Chip), and Cynthia Pitts; son, Timothy Pitts (Patty); grandchildren, Elizabeth Bastedo, Brooke Lovett (Alan), Jesse Matthews (Kathleen), Kelly White, Kevin Matthews, Wesley McQueen (Ashlee), Jacob McQueen, Carrie Pitts; and great-grandchildren, Jimmy Pigate, Tristin Pigate, Nicole Bastedo, Marlee McQueen, Belle Lovett and Brantley McQueen. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Terry Pitts, Jr. and wife, Louise Pitts. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1132 Gunter Circle, West Columbia, 29169.
