COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Daniel Louis Wenger, Jr., 30, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. SSG Wenger passed away Friday, July 31, 2015. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, he was a son of Daniel Luis Wenger, Sr. and Gregoria Quijano. SSG Wenger’s family was the center of his life. He was a loving father and devoted husband and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He met his wife, Jessica while in the Army in 2009. While in the U.S. Army for 13 years, SSG Wenger served as an infantryman and later became a Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson. He was deployed twice to Afghanistan, once to Iraq and once to Korea. At the time of his passing, he was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Jessica Wenger; sons, Donavan and Ayden; daughters, McKenzie and Isabella; brothers, Michael Wenger (Lisa) of El Paso, Texas, and Zachary Wenger of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Samantha Wenger of Alexandria, Va; paternal grandmother, Adelaida Wenger; other extended family and many close friends.
