I was saddened to here of Spence’s sudden death. What a wonderful man he was. I was proud to teach alongside Spence during our years at Whitehall - especially with Quest course. He was respected by teachers and students and the players he coached. People we meet along the way help shape us into the people we become. Spence had a positive impact on me and made me better at teaching and being a friend to others. I pray that your memories sustain you through your grief. I prefer to say all this in person, but I cannot attend on the 15th. Love, Jean Schafer

What a stunning loss! Condolences to you and your family. It was my honor to know and work with Spence. He was just a wonderful human being. You can check all of the boxes for him, good husband, good father, good teacher and coach. May he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences for your loss, Linda and family! Spence was my teaching partner for twelve years, and he made every day worth coming to work. He cared deeply for our students and took very seriously his job of instilling in them a clear understanding of history and civics. He very quietly helped them in many other ways too, always maintaining respect and dignity.  He was a great teacher, coach, and family man. The world was a better place with him in it, but now we must settle for Heaven having a new baseball coach for its winning team.

So sorry to all his family and friends, he was a great man. He instilled in me my love of history and was an AMAZING teacher. Even when I didn't understand something, he'd put it simpler and tell me "it's as easy as a can of corn!" Rest easy Mr. Sindel, you will surely be missed!

I knew Spence as Coach Sindel, and he was one of the nicest guys I ever met. Just a good person and pillar of the community. He seemed to be a great father to a couple great kids, too. RIP, Coach.

You were always one of my favorite teachers. Even after my sophomore year, I'll always remember the good times we had in your class. My thoughts and prayers go to your family & friends.

Spence (Coach Sindel), was a great coach and an even more amazing person.  He was liked by so many people and always made learning fun.  He was a great coach to play for and a wonderful person to work with.   We (class of ‘86) players still tell stories about him all the time, when we get together.  He will be GREATLY missed by many and our hearts go out to his family.  Rest in peace Spike, you made the world a better place for ALL of us!
