COLUMBIA - Sheila Marie Griffith Clark, 88, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024 surrounded by her children in Columbia, SC. She was born January 8, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Gloria Seehausen Griffith and the late John Griffith. Sheila graduated from high school in Hastings, NE, and graduated from Hastings College. After several moves in the Northern states, she and her family moved to Columbia, SC in 1973. She worked as a secretary at Spring Valley High School until, at age 50, she left to attend Midlands Technical College where she earned an AD and RN degree in Nursing. Sheila practiced at the William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute until her retirement. She loved to read, go out to lunch, play bridge, Shanghai and Boggle. Her girlfriends lovingly talk about how amazingly smart and skillful she was, and that almost inevitably the games went her way.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Wayne Clark of Clearwater, FL, Robert Gregory Clark and his wife, Angela Ferguson Clark of Blythewood, SC, and Jennifer Clark Finch and her husband, Michael T. Finch Jr., MD of Columbia, SC. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Diane Priestly Griffith.
She will always be remembered as "She-She" or "Sheesh" to her eight grandchildren who loved her dearly: Ashley Howard Faulkenberry (Nate), Hannah Clark St. Jeor (Jeff), Michael T. Finch III, Alexandra Howard Straitt (Drew), Abigail Clark Griffin (Jonathan), Riley Finch Holliday (Tommy), Clark Watkins Finch and Grace Carlton Clark Tilby (Jaxson). Finally, she is survived by six precious great- grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews.
Lastly, Sheila leaves behind her wonderful and loving girlfriends of up to fifty years, who have always been there for her and were a tremendous support for her in her final days.... the "Spring Valley Girls", and also her Bridge friends.
A drop in and celebration of life will take place at the home of her daughter Jen on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at 209 Trentwood Drive, Columbia, SC 29223. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Animal Mission, 127 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209 or animalmission.org
