SFC Theodore B. "Ted" Oliver, US Army (Ret.)

COLUMBIA Funeral service for SFC Theodore “Ted” Oliver, U.S. Army (Ret.), 79, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015, at Woodfield Park Baptist Church, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mr. Oliver died Monday, December 29, 2014. Born in Blacksburg, Va., he was a son of the late Kent Black Oliver and Irene Perdue Oliver. Mr. Oliver retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years, serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of Woodfield Park Baptist Church where we was a Deacon, and a long time member of the DAV. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Marie Oliver; son, Bruce Oliver (Royetta) of Pelion; daughters, Cathy Oliver-Kneece (Rufus) of North Augusta, Paula King (David) of Clover; grandchildren, Christopher Oliver (Kristin), Bryan Oliver, Valerie Kneece, Christina King, Austin King, Sarah King, Robert Cook (Ali); great-grandchildren, Garrett Oliver, Abigail Oliver, Nathaniel Cook, Owen Cook; and sister, Doris Sweeney of Blacksburg, Va. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
