COLUMBIA - Sarah Clarkson Moore, 94, widow of Thomas Thompson Moore, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 23, 2018. Born in Hopkins, SC, December 23, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Sarah Fellers Clarkson and John Gorman Clarkson. Sarah was employed with the civil service at Ft. Jackson for over 30 years, retiring from the Program-Budget Office. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Congaree, where she had played the organ for over 82 years.
Sarah is survived by her daughter Anne Hopkins Lott (Van) and her son Thomas David Hopkins (Irene); step-sons Thomas Thompson Moore (Vickie) and James Hart Moore (Georganna), and step-daughter Rebecca Moore Allen; and son-in-law William Goldsmith Crayton; grandchildren William Clarkson Livingston (Lyndsey), Laura Livingston Stone (David), Van Dorn Lott, IV, John Clarkson Lott, Sunjay Alexander Hopkins, Taika Solainey Hopkins, Jennifer Moore Gross (Jeff), Charlotte Moore Hayden (Sean), Heyward Alexander Moore (Meghan), Thomas Thompson Moore, III (Charlotte), Elliot Davis Moore, Walker Hopkins Allen, Timothy Moore Allen; great grandchildren William Clarkson Livingston, Jr., Sarah Anne Livingston, Katherine Abigail Livingston, David McLeod Stone, Jr., Jackson Hamilton Stone, Thomas Oliver Moore, Caroline Alexander Gross, Lila Baxter Gross, William Charles Haydon, Andrew Hart Haydon, Harold Walker Allen, Edison James Allen; a sister Mary Ann Clarkson Hotinger, and a sister-in-law Mary Taylor Clarkson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughters Sarah “Sally” Hopkins Livingston and Amelia Garden Pringle Hopkins, a brother the Rev. John Gorman Clarkson, Jr., and a grandson Philip Allen.
A graveside service will be held at 11 o’clock, Thursday, September 27, 2018, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Congaree, 1151 Elm Savannah Road, Hopkins, SC 29061, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel H. Hank officiating. The family will greet friends during a reception following the service in the church parish house, Zion Hall. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 5 o’clock until 6:45 o’clock with a vigil immediately following at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine Street, Columbia, SC.
