COLUMBIA - Sara Vinson Watts, 82, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022. Born in Waycross, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Troy Langston Vinson and Martha Miller Vinson. She received her Associate’s degree in Nursing from Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. She worked for Manor Care for 30 years, retired and went to work as a consultant for the Department of Health and Human Services. Sara was Miss Waycross 1956. Her greatest joys in life were Family and especially her grandchildren. She had two personal passions reading, and her love for dogs (Scotties and Westies). Her Golden years were spent with Rebecca and family, enjoying beach trips and peace on the farm in Georgetown.
Surviving are her son, Mark L. Watts (Lynn), and daughters, Betsy Watts (Donna) and Rebecca Collins (Thomas), all of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Matt Watts (Betsy), Caitlin Woodard (Jason), Dallas Collins, Sydney Collins, and Amanda Collins; two great-grandsons; and other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lyon Watts, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at St. David’s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
