HOPKINS - A graveside service for Russell Alver Cox, 53, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mr. Cox passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018. Born in Columbia on December 8, 1964, he was a son of Jeanette Russ Cox and the late Jesse Alver Cox
Russ was a graduate of Anderson College, where he played baseball. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and also Green Cabin Hunt Club. Russ was a loving father, husband and son. He was always so proud of his twin boys and all their accomplishments. Russ loved coaching his boys and cheering them on. Russ, Kathy and the dogs enjoyed times riding around on their John Deer Gator that Kathy got for Mother’s Day. He was blessed with many best buddies and true friends that brought endless hours of joy and laughter.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 26 years, Kathy Cox of Hopkins; sons, Harmon Russ Cox and Baker Brooks Cox both of Hopkins; sister, Pamela Cox Elkins (Thomas) of Columbia; grandmother, Olene Russ of Columbia; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His wife would like to extend her appreciation to the many people who have assisted the family over the last few days.
