COLUMBIA - Funeral Service for Rose Samet Kline, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Beth Shalom Synagogue. Burial will follow in Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zachary Kline, Christian Player, Tobie Drucker, Jerry Kline, Guerry Sample, Robert Weinstein, Fred Feldman, and Johnny George. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Kline passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, surrounded by her family. Born in High Point, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Alex “Eck” and Hazel Morris Samet. She was a graduate of Asheboro High School and Women’s College of North Carolina (present day UNC Greensboro). On June 10, 1956, she and Harold were married in High Point and moved to Columbia, S.C. where she joined and became an active member of Beth Shalom Synagogue. She was three times President of the Daughters of Israel, Chairman of the 50th, 75th and 85th Anniversary of Beth Shalom, Chairman of the Brick Fund, served on the Dedication Dinner Program Committee for the new synagogue, undertook the first Bas Mitzvah at Trenholm Road synagogue who happened to be her daughter, Mindy. She also served as Chairman of the 20th Anniversary of the Trenholm Road synagogue, founded and Chaired the Archives where she applied and received grants from the state of South Carolina Archives two times, served on the bylaws committee, was bulletin editor and co-editor, served on the executive board of Beth Shalom, and the Holocaust Memorial Committee. In 1997, she and her husband received the Mogan David Award, with appreciation of services rendered to Beth Shalom Synagogue and together they were honored at the Traditions Dinner in 2007 where they were recognized for their roles in shaping the tradition of Beth Shalom. Rose was full of love for her community and most importantly, her family. She was proud of her children, grandchildren, and anyone who knew her, knew that her husband was her best friend and love of her life. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on through those who loved her so. Surviving in addition to her husband, of 60 years, Harold, are children, Dr. Richard M. Kline and wife, Kathy, Mindy Kline, and Larry M. Kline and wife, Jessica; grandchildren, Zachary, Ella, Anna, Christian (son, Levi) and Elliott Kline. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Claire Kline and brother-in-law, Sol Kline (Tootsie). She was preceded in death by her sister, Toby James; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Kline Cremer, Florence Fox; and brother-in-law, Morris Kline.
