Reflections of the Life of Mother Rose Conley Harp
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26
Mother Rose Conley Harp of Refuge Temple Church, Southern Regional Headquarters, Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Columbia, SC will remain a very deep pillar in all hearts of our family and community.
She transitioned to sleep in the Presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Mother Rose is preceded in transition by her Beloved Husband, Elder Earnest Harp Jr.; Her Parents, Richard Conley Sr. and Rozella Nesbitt; Her Sister, Sherri Conley Moore; her daughter, Dianna Harp and her son, Matthew Harp.
Mother Rose was born in Miami, Florida, and her 49 years of Marriage Journey led her to Boynton Beach, FL. Subsequently, she was welcomed by her eldest daughter, Annejanet Harp, and moved to Columbia, South Carolina. Mother Rose was ecstatic that she was blessed to attend the last class taught by Chief Apostle William Lee Bonner entitled "The Power of Positive Thinking". Shortly afterwards, Chief Apostle William Lee Bonner appointed her to the Refuge Temple Church Mothers Board.
Mother Rose was saved and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at age 14 and accepted her Missionary calling to tell everyone about the love of Jesus Christ and lead them to salvation. She felt that it was her charge, to begin with, her children: Her eldest daughter, Annejanet Harp; Her daughter, Latasha Harp, and her grandchildren: Kristina Charles, Felicia Charles, (her children, Josiah and Nyla) Raymond Tuason, Nicholas Tuason, and Julia Tuason; Her son, Matthew Harp; Her daughter, Lynette (Gregory) Smith, and her grandchildren: Alexander Smith and Maximus Smith; Her daughter, Eliza (Harold) Mykoo, and her grandchildren: Trenton Mykoo and Kayla Mykoo (Kayla’s son Soul); Her son, Johnathan Harp, and her grandchildren: Johnathan Jr., Beyonce, Kai-yale, Zariah, Oprah, Hadassah, and Amorah; Her daughter, Dianna Harp; Her son, Elder Jeremy Harp; Her daughter, Kimberly Harp, and her grandchildren: Isaiah Rose, Sarah Rose, Elijah Rose, Shyla, and Nathalia; Her daughter, Vanessa Harp, and her grandchildren, Olivia, Victoria, and Asia; Her daughter, Rachel Harp and her grandchild, Sky. She embraced her Motherhood by pointing her children toward Christ by praying for them, modeling faith and character, and training them in wisdom. She would often tell us to “Never Let Anyone or Anything Separate You from the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus Our Lord”.
Additionally, Mother Rose chose the career of an Operator Dispatcher and served for more than 20 years at John F. Kennedy Hospital, to help patients and connect all who called the hospital to the place and person that they needed to communicate with. She was an Excellent Pastor’s Wife: Married at age 16 she served with her husband Elder Earnest Harp Jr. in Florida, Region Ten under the direction of Regional Apostle Henry Ross and Apostle, Dr. Gentle L. Groover Sr. Mother Rose was a Devoted Sister, and Loyal Friend. She was also an active participating member in the International Ministers and Deacons Wives Guild and a Lifetime member of the International Women’s Council of COOLJC as well as here locally in the Refuge Temple Church Mothers Board, Seniors Board (secretary and Senior of the Year 2018), and local Women’s Council. Mother Rose would often say. God loves a good worker and was an example of what Servant leadership looked like. Mother Rose was always eager to demonstrate that “Whatever you do, work heartily, as unto the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."
Mother Rose will be remembered as a Holy Woman of God, a lady of class and sophistication and a model of the woman in Proverbs 31. She was selfless, always thinking of others more than herself. She was soft hearted, making sure she always had a kind word to say. She was always hospitable, as she greeted everyone she met with her big warm loving eyes and a welcoming smile. She received and gave charitably, volunteering in community services, such as Habitat for Humanity and The Red Cross. She loved President Barack and Michelle Obama! Feeling invigorated, she participated in his “People of Faith for Obama” campaign and fundraisers with her daughter, Annejanet to help make a change in this world. She also enjoyed meeting people while working at the voting booths. Like her namesake, Rose was soft and sharp; Intelligent and Tech Savvy; Very Loving and Understanding. We will miss her INDEED!
