COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Robert “Bob” Crim, 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015, at St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge. Mr. Crim died Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Born on March 11, 1932 in Athens, Ala., he was one of seven children of the late James Everett Crim and Willie Belle Johnson Crim. Bob served in the U. S. Air Force for 22 years and won the Top Gun Award for three successive years from 1964 - 1966. He flew multiple tours in the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a combat fighter pilot and served as Commandant of the Nuclear Flight School, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He never lost his love of flying. After retiring from the Air Force in 1971 at Shaw AFB, he attained his degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina. He worked for over 35 years as a self-employed CPA and for several years served as Finance Director for the City of Columbia. He was active at St. Michael’s and All Angels' Episcopal Church, serving as treasurer for many years. Surviving are his children, Elaine Lilling of Myrtle Beach, Alan Crim of Charlotte, N.C., Andrea Fullalove of West Sussex, England and Robert Crim of Columbia, as well as eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Evelyn Watts of Memphis, Tenn. and Dorothy Hopper of Huntsville, Ala. He will be greatly missed by his family and good friends. He was predeceased by Doris Dulin Crim. The family wishes to thank the staff at Palmetto Baptist for their care and support.
