Robert Edmund Blackwell, 82, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away on September 8, 2022. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina on March 18, 1940. Mr. Blackwell was the son of Edmond and Nora Jackson Blackwell.
Robert worked as a prominent electrician in New York and at Disney World, and then as an electricity teacher at Heyward Career Center in Richland One for over 25 years. After retirement, he was a NCCER Certified Instructor during the evenings for the Electric Coop of SC. He loved eating out, camping, bird watching, fishing, woodworking, his dogs, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by sons, Kevin Blackwell and Robert Blackwell II (Andrea); his grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, and Grace, Abigail and Matthew, as well as several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Edmond; mother, Nora; wife, Brenda Aiken Blackwell; daughter, Kimberly Elaine; and his sisters, Mary Driggers and Betty Jeffcoat.
A Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2350 Augusta Hwy., Lexington, SC 29072. Inurnment will follow the service at 1:30 pm at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
Robert was a wonderful man who would help anyone in need. He was a hard worker/teacher and devoted to his family and friends.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
