Patsy Cartledge Goodwin

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Lockton Cartledge and Julia Elizabeth Tarrant Cartledge of Columbia; brother, Fred Lockton Cartledge Jr. (Maxine) of Greenville, Tennessee; sister, Doris Cartledge Cobb (Douglas) of Richmond, Virginia; nephews, Fred Lockton Cartledge III, David Douglas Cobb; and niece, Debora Cobb Schumacher.

She is survived by her sister, Beth Cartledge Leaptrott; daughters, Terry Goodwin Mamele (Dale) of Irmo and Linda Goodwin Burnside (Bob) of Columbia; and grandchildren, Christopher Bryan Mamele (Michaela) of Chester Springs, PA, Ashley Mamele Owen (Jeff) of Spartanburg, Anna Brooks Burnside Backman (Calvin) of Columbia, and Robert Culbreth Burnside of Columbia. Patsy enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Harper Caroline Mamele, Holland Kathryn Mamele, William Robert Owen, Elizabeth Blake Owen, Emily Grace Backman, and Caleb Levi Backman. She is also survived by her niece, Julie Leaptrott Ruff (David) and nephew, John Thomas Leaptrott.

Patsy had a thirty-year career in Facilities Engineering at Fort Jackson where she developed many lifelong friendships with her colleagues. After retirement from Fort Jackson, she worked at the American Red Cross. She loved the performing arts and volunteered at both Workshop and Town Theatres. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class for over 65 years. Patsy volunteered in many capacities at Shandon and serving her church was truly one of her greatest joys.

The family wishes to thank Tashara Heyward and her team for the six years of devoted and compassionate care that they provided. They would also like to thank the staff at Harmony of Columbia for their kindness.

A private family service will be held at Shandon United Methodist Church where she will be interred in the church columbarium. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
