Patricia Moore Payne

Patricia Payne, 87, of Columbia SC died peacefully on October 14, 2022 under Hospice Care at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community in West Columbia SC. Born November 14, 1934 in Concord NC, she is predeceased by her parents, Branch (Pat) and Esther Miller Moore of Concord NC.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3600 Devine St., Columbia, SC at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, officiated by Father Frei, Parochial Vicar. Final prayers and Commendation will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery on Gold Hill Road in Concord, NC at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022.

Patsy was a graduate of Concord High School, attended St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, and is a graduate of University of Maryland, College Park MD. She was a United Stewardess until she met Navy Lieutenant Bill Payne whom she married in 1961. During Bill’s Navy career, they lived in Morocco, France, Washington DC. and California. After Bill’s retirement they moved to Columbia in 1979. Patsy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the O’Brien Altar Society and the Bereavement Group. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 60 years, sisters Judith Moore Blanton and George (deceased) of Clearwater, FL and Phoebe Moore Levine and Jerry of Charlotte NC and many nieces and nephews.
