Pam was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 20, 1949 to Oscar and Wanda Yeske. She received her degree in Philosophy from the State University of New York in Binghamton, New York.
After graduating from college, she moved and settled in Paris for a few years, which she considered to be her second home. In 1975, she returned to the states to attend Nursing school at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. She then went on to become a Registered Nurse working primarily with pediatric cancer patients at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. She eventually became a Pediatric Clinical Educator for her unit and managed the initial training and orientation for newly hired nurses.
During this same time, she returned to school and attained her Masters of Public Health degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida. She continued on to become a Pediatric Case Manager for children with chronic medical conditions with the State of Florida’s Children’s Medical Services and eventually relocated to Tallahassee, Florida to continue with this work.
In 1990, she moved to Columbia, SC to care for her aging parents with her only brother Bruce. She continued her work in a similar position to assist children with complex medical conditions with the State of South Carolina. She eventually retired and remained in Columbia, SC until her death.
Pam was a lover of philosophy, especially the works of Emerson and Thoreau. Her greatest joy and past time was travel, (especially cruising), meeting new people, and learning about other places and cultures. When she wasn’t traveling, she was always busy planning her next trip. Her travels took her all over the world throughout her lifetime.
She also had a genuine appreciation for and love of art, museums, fine wine, French cuisine, animals of every kind and most especially sharing many of these things with her friends. She was fiercely loyal and her generosity was boundless. The legacy she leaves behind will not be forgotten by those who knew her.
Pam will be cremated and her ashes will be cast upon the sea. There will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, please join Pam in supporting your local arts community and animal rescues.
