COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Nancy Bagwell Wrenn, 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wrenn died Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Born in Shelby, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Harold Wright Bagwell Sr. and Bobbie Evelyn Mills Bagwell. She was a member of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church. She retired as Chief Executive of Finance Administration for the State of South Carolina. Always interested in volunteerism and charity work, following high school, she assisted with the World War II effort. She volunteered with Christ Central with the homeless and after retirement, volunteered with other charitable organizations. She received the Order of the Palmetto twice, one from David Beasley and one from Carroll Campbell. She also received two Governors Awards of Excellency from David Beasley and Carol Campbell. January 6 was designated as Nancy Wrenn Day. Prior to her death, she was the oldest living member of the Eastern Star. She was quick-witted and a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth Godow, Bobbie Dozier, Rebecca Wrenn, Candy Sapp and Cynthia Gilliam; son, David James Wrenn; grandchildren, Sean Sullivan, Samantha Sullivan, Lee Dozier, Amy Sapp, Michael Sapp, Elizabeth Wrenn; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Seamus, Mallie, Douglas, and David. She was predeceased by her husband, James Alvin Wrenn.
