Mr. Blackwell died Sunday, March 6, 2022. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Henry Monroe Blackwell Sr. and Viola Chavis Mills Blackwell. After serving honorably for four years in the U.S. Air Force, he was employed in Civil Service. He loved his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a self-made man who could do anything with his hands and mind. He enjoyed hunting and loved dogs.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Prescott Blackwell; three children, David Rustin Blackwell (Majken), Ernest Randall “Randy” Blackwell (Patty), Deborah Stabler (Les); three stepchildren, William Jason Cooper, Rachel Lorrine Cooper, Joel Lawrence Cooper; brother, James M. Blackwell; sister, Linda L. Blackwell Lever; grandchildren, Lee, Ken, Donald, Michael, Aaron, Randy, Reese, Shelby, Camden; three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Davis, and Lore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local animal rescue.
