Mary Karanick Lawrence

COLUMBIA – Mary Karanick Lawrence, 88, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Born in Orlando, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Nick Karanick and Katherine Vovou Karanick. Mary loved animals, volunteered at Vacation Church School, and baked pastries at the Greek Festival. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Surviving are her son, Philip A. Lawrence (Crystal) of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Katherine Lawrence, Anthony Lawrence, and Danielle Lawrence; nieces, Joy Roach and Debbie Anderson; nephews, Tim Karanick, Paul Karanick, Charlie Karanick, and Derrick Lawrence; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Virgil A. Lawrence; son, Nick Lawrence; brother, Billy Karanick; and nephew, Mark Karanick.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with Trisagion Prayers at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, with burial to follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens at 4:30 p.m.
