COLUMBIA - A graveside service with military honors for Mary Sue “Susie” Howdyshell, 85, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family.
Ms. Howdyshell died Sunday, October 15, 2023. Born January 23, 1938 in Wadesboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Willie Lee Webb and Gladys Allen Maurice Webb. She was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force as a nurse and retired from the American Red Cross in Columbia.
Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Howdyshell (Janet) and Jonathan Howdyshell (Heather); grandchildren, Brooke Howdyshell, Nicholas Howdyshell (Madison), Sawyer Howdyshell, Hayden Howdyshell. She was predeceased by her siblings, Maurice Rohleder, Doris Park, Bill Webb and Joseph Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
