Martha F. Trotti, a resident of King’s Bridge Retirement Community in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on April 4, 2020. Services will be delayed due to current social distancing requirements and will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to the John M. Trotti Scholarship Fund at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina or to a charity of one’s choice.
Mrs. Trotti was born in Chapin, S.C. on October 31, 1922 and grew up in Columbia. She was a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Blana Fulmer Frick of Columbia.
Prior to her marriage, she was a long time member of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Columbia. She attended Logan and Wardlaw Schools and graduated from Columbia High School.
A magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation, she was employed in the accounting department of the South Carolina Electric and Gas Company.
She married Marion W. Trotti of West Columbia in 1945. During the ensuing years, they lived in Pusan, Korea; Lawton, Oklahoma; Columbus, Georgia; Columbia, Charleston, and Florence, South Carolina; Berkeley Heights, New Jersey; and Atlanta, Georgia. Upon her husband’s retirement they moved back to West Columbia.
Mrs. Trotti was an active member of the Lutheran Church in all of the cities in which she lived. She was also involved in various civic and charitable organizations, the most recent as a volunteer in the Auxiliary of the Lexington Medical Center. She and Marion retained their membership at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Columbia when they moved to King’s Bridge in Atlanta to be near their sons and their families.
She was pre-deceased by her son Rev. John Trotti, grandchildren Christopher Trotti (son of John) and Rachel Trotti (daughter of James), and siblings Theo Abelmann and Elmer Frick Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Marion W. Trotti; daughter-in-law, Patti Trotti (widow of John) and grandchildren, Elizabeth Trotti and John Trotti; son, Col. Paul Trotti Sr. (Mary Jane) and grandchildren, Paul Trotti Jr. (Lindsay), Jim Trotti, and Sarah Willis (Grant); son, James Trotti (Joy) and grandchild, Rebekah Trotti. Survivors also include 6 great-grandchildren.
